So i added a new cd key to a friends account, and now its not on there and when i try to readd it, it says CD Key in use. Does anyone know anything about what could be wrong?

Maybe your friend is using the account at that time?

It has to be asked: is the CD key absolutely new, came from a wrapped box, or got it straight from plaync.com? and, are you trying to 'share' this key with your friend?

It's a rather common scam to get a used CD (or the key itself) that has had it's key redistributed a number of times, a number of ways.

Otherwise, you might want to ask your friend if he changed anything under his account settings.

Just to clarify....
When you say "adding a key", do you mean in essence adding Factions to a current Prophesies account?

I know when I originally did this there was some confusion about exactly where to enter the new key. I think the login screen has improved that, but I haven't tried it lately.

You might want to check that you didn't accidentally create a new account. (Though you would need a separate email to do so.) Maybe you added it to your account by mistake?

I added a factions key to the account. He was playing with me there and we logged off around noon CST. Well we tried to get on around 10 pm.. and his character screen only had 4 slots instead of the six. We got his warrior to Shenjis Corner and now hes back in Tyria. He still has a dragon mask so i dont know what the hell happend. I try to readd the key and it says its in use.

Once again, are you sure this is a valid key? You can't share your key with a friend. Either you, or him would have to buy a new copy of the game.

I've had similar problems with registering things before. Especially on online forms. For Example:

Server: "The email address is already in use"
Me: "Because I put it in, and you said i left out my birthday!"

If the cd key is a legit copy one of you paid for (and have yet to use before this incident), I'd contact support and explain the problem to them. It may take a bit of time, but they should be able to straighten out your problem.

I bought it new. It was only on his account. It was being used. He was in Cantha doing quests. We logged off for the night and when he tried going on the next day the key was no longer on it. The key was ONLY on that account.

try contacting account support about it. again though, you still have not stated were you bought the key from. If it was not purchased from a valid retailer or NCsoft, it is not a valid key most likely.

well if it wasen't a valid key how come it would work once and then not work the next day if it was a invalid key it woulden't work at all he is saying that his friend got factions he added the factions key to his friends original account they went on to play it it was working fine then the next day it wasen't working and his Char was back in Tyria

i play faction, and it was the only one i have
i did get a prophesies account from a friend who doesnt play it no more..
is it possoble to connect those 2 different accounts to 1 account ??

Hello.

this issue has been known to happen in the past.

You need to log up a ticket with A.net support: http://www.guildwars.com/support/

They will most likely ask for proof of purchase (Online reciept or digital picture of one), a picture of the CD-key and a picture of the box.

Once they have this what they normally due is create a new CD-Key for you to use.

Keeping in mind it takes about a week for them to investigate and sort this out. But contacting A.net is all you can do.
